Trusting Thursday - Fool?

Proverbs 28:26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

When we think of whether we are a fool or wise, how do we measure that?

When I think of Peter in the Bible we see someone who walked side by side with Jesus. He was with Jesus in Gethsemane and fell asleep twice when Jesus asked for them to watch with Him.

At the Passover before Gethsemane, Peter expresses to Christ "Peter answered and said unto Him, though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended." Jesus responded "verily I say unto thee, that this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice."

Peter then said "though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples." Matthew 26:33-35

So we realize that Peter and all of the disciples did not realize their condition. They did not realize their need to trust Jesus. They believed they were okay and had everything under control. We know that all the disciples had forsook Him and fled. Matthew 26:56.

We need to remember that we too can become complacent and believe that we are okay. That we have everything under control. We need Jesus and His Spirit in order to become overcomers. He performs the work of to will and to do of His good pleasure within us. We must surrender!
