Temperance Tuesday - Are we Eve?

What was the first sin that took place?

Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. God told Adam and Eve not to partake in eating of the fruit of one tree out of many trees in the garden of Eden. ONE tree!

It's easy to think "what was Eve 🤔 thinking" but the reality is we are still doing as Eve did today! God has given us plenty of food to enjoy in vegetables, fruit, nuts, seeds, grains and beans. So many varieties of each and even natural sugar: honey, pure maple syrup and even date sugar.

Even with all this variety, we have found a way to eat much that is not good for us. We are not better than Eve and Satan is still telling us the same lie that we can sin and not face death because Jesus has died for us.

It is true that Jesus came and died for us to be free from sin but not for us to be free to sin! Through the blood of Jesus we can overcome sin. He has broken the chains that once bound us.

In other words, Jesus died in order for us to have self-control against the temptations of Satan. When we partake of food that we know is harmful to our systems over and over again, it is as if Eve was going back to the tree of knowledge of good and evil over and over again. Would you think Eve going back to the tree of knowledge of good and evil over and over again was crazy?!?!? Then why do we continue to partake of food that harms out nerves and causes diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer?
