Temperance Tuesday - Cain or Abel?

Our quarterly for Sabbath school is going through Genesis this quarter. The book of Genesis shows how satan deceived Eve and continued to lead many to the path of destruction through sin.
When looking at the first murder of Cain, I realize there is so much to this story between Cain and Abel.
Adam and Eve had thought that Cain was the Messiah. It says in Genesis 4 "And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord.
And she again bare his brother Abel."
As you can see, Cain was cherished and Abel was just another born. We can see why maybe Cain felt entitled and did not need to listen to God because he thought he was God according to his parents.
When he brought his sacrifice, he did it his way instead of the way God has called him to do so. Abel on the other hand did according to God's instructions.
Are we not like this? We give up what we want to give up and hold on to what we want to. We say well I am human and am not perfect. God calls us to surrender to all. "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." Matthew 5:48.
We need to have self-control of everything God calls us to give up for Him. It is for us as well. It is what is best for us. Let us not be like Cain and worship God how we want to but do as Abel and worship in a way that is pleasing to God daily!

Amen! Help us Lord to follow and obedience to your commandments!
