Sunlight Sunday- Increase your "Happy" Hormone

I am not sure about you, but yesterday I took advantage of the beautiful weather with dear friends and family! The sun was shining bright and the above picture was taken by my dear friend as we walked, talked and laughed. It is nice to have a friend that you can enjoy God's nature with and to be able to discuss the need of God in our lives. Choose your friends wisely. Choose friends who uplift you in Christ and encourage a closer walk with our Saviour!
As we walked, talked and laugh (which is the best medicine), I could feel the warmth of the sun. I began to think about the blog and how tomorrow is Sunlight Sunday. I remember thinking about growing up in Florida and when I was child, in the winter, I would go outside in shorts and a T-shirt to play with my chalk on the sideways. Oh what a happy child I was while being outdoors in the sun. I dreaded the sun going down. I wanted nothing more than the sun to stay.
Now, I have children of my own. I take them outside as much as possible. I have heard my children speak my thoughts as a child, "Mom, I wish the sun would not go down. I do not want to go to sleep. I can't wait to go to heaven because there will be nothing more night."
I agree. No more night. No more tears. No more pain. No more suffering. No more fear. No more worry. Today as you go about your day just think of a time when there will never be night again. An eternity of light shining bright. What cheerfulness there will be because studies show that the sunlight penetrates and lifts depression. Sunlight increases one of what they call the "happy" hormones, serotonin in the body. This hormone helps us to stay calm and focused. When we remain calm and focused in any situation we will be content with our actions.
God has given us the natural laws that work together for good in us. They all connect. The sunlight can help us with temperance. Go get outside in the sunlight with your friends and family. Soak up the sunlight and increase your "happy" hormones!
