Sunlight Sunday- Florida the sunshine state versus Alaska

As I looked outside today and saw the cloudy skies, I felt depressed. I had already had a long evening and didn't sleep well. Woke up to see rainy skies with no sunlight. I enjoy the sunlight, where I can get outside and feel the warmth against my skin.

I grew up in Florida, the sunshine state! When it rained there most of the time it came and went quickly or it would rain while the sun was still shining. I lived in the pool year round and still remember getting my first set of rollerblades on Christmas. As soon as I opened them up, I was outside roller blading all over my neighborhood. I loved being outside and active. On the weekends we went to the beach every Sunday in the summer. I would go so often outside that when I was a child I would have to put zinc on my nose because if I didn't my nose would peel so much that it looked like my nose was peeling away.

I was a happy child and have grown into a very smiley adult. Sunlight makes me smile. When I smile, I like to see others smile back. Smiling is contagious.

When I looked up the place that has the most suicides, I found it interesting that it was Alaska. Then I looked to see how often it is sunny there and to my surprise it was only 126 days out of the year. Maybe a coincidence or maybe not. Lack of sunlight can cause depression. Make sure when you are feeling down to get outside in the sunlight to "brighten" your day!

I used to enjoy winter, not anymore. I think working in a sunny atmosphere (with smiling face is important too. You don't see that much anymore in workplaces, where i work employees are pushed to work hard and to work harder, it is wonderful that at the end of the workday we can get outside and enjoy God's nature and sunshine and be rejuvenated.
