Today at church was youth Sabbath! What a blessing to see all the children taking a part in the main service.
For youth Sabbath the teens were in charge of the sermon and they all chose to tell the story of someone who had found Christ. They explained their journey and who they were before Christ.
As I was listening to the different characters I couldn't help but to think of my own journey.
I was raised in the church and participated in adventures and pathfinders in my youth. We ended today around a campfire as a church family. Which also brought memories of my youth. Those moments where you are united with like minded believers and realizing you aren't alone is such encouragement!
When you grown up and decide to go out into the world because you think you are missing something......you always find your way back HOME! Home is where Christ is!
I remember leaving the church and venturing out. I did things I am not proud of. I became a smoker, drank alcohol, listened to music and watched television that affected the way I thought and acted! This is the list of things I am comfortable with speaking of. The more I did certain things, the more separate I felt from Christ.
Now that I look back, God was always there! He never let go of me. He was always trying to pull me back in. He protected me several times from my bad decisions. Even when I didn't deserve it!
Satan tries to tell us that it is too late to come to Jesus and ask for forgiveness. But never accept this lie!! Satan is a liar and knows that God is merciful and long-suffering! He is pleading with us to come to Him as we are, so that He can change us!
Matthew 11:28-30 says:
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
This week I was talking to a wonderful friend of mine and we were discussing total surrender to God. Her husband explained this text to me as follows:
The yoke is the contraption that goes into two bulls in order for them to work together to complete a task. If one of the bulls begins to slack off, then the other bull with pick up the slack.

Isn't it amazing that this contraption is referred to connecting us to Christ? So we just have to let Jesus pick up our slack. He is willing and ABLE!! That is why His yoke is easy and His burden is light because He is the one picking up our slack. He works in us to do the will and good pleasure of The Father!
What is your testimony? Remember what God has done for you!
